Greater Nigel Economic Empowerment hosted a three-day Kwatsaduza soccer tournament in honour of the youth of 1976.
The stakes were high in the tournament which ended on Monday, and Duduza club Voslo Hot Spurs took home the prize in a convincing 5-3 win.
The final and semi-final games were played at ground Two in Blue Gum, after starting the tournament at ground One, in the same area.
Thobeka Maisa said the winning team walked away with a R4 000 cash prize, soccer jerseys, medals and a trophy.
The first semi-final encounter was between Damara FC and Thirteen Eleven.
Both teams registered goals in close succession in the opening minutes of the game.
The game then lost momentum, with Thirteen Eleven not capitalising on the many corner kicks awarded to them.
The game picked up speed in the closing minutes of the first half.
The second half saw both sides taking more scoring chances.
After two close calls, it was third time lucky for Thirteen Eleven, when they found the back of the net and led the game.
Damara sent a powerful shot, trying to close the gap, but were denied by the Thirteen Eleven keeper with a beautiful save.
The referee blew the final whistle shortly after, and Thirteen Eleven booked a spot in the final game with their 2-1 win.
