Still running at the age of 51

Mamsy Ntshangase (51) is still running despite her age.

The Tsakane Extension 11 resident is the member of Kwatsaduza Athletics Club.

She started running in 2010 with the aim to keep healthy and motivate the youth to join sport.

Like most of the women of her age, Ntshangase is the mother of five boys between the ages of 12 and 31 years.

Ntshangase has taken part in many running competitions in the masters’ category including the Soweto Marathon that was held few months ago.

She believes that one needs to do what one loves most especially if it will be for the benefit of one’s health.

“At my age, I cannot say I want to see myself being recognised internationally, but I run for the love of sport and to keep my body healthy and strong,” says Ntshangase.

She encourages young people to search their talents and start using it when they are are still young.

Discouraging those who use drugs, Ntshangase says drugs will not lead them to a brighter future, instead will kill their tomorrow.

Ntshangase is proof that working hard pays at the end, following a number of gold medals that she received since she started running three years ago.
