Karatekas ready to compete
KwaThema - Eleven young karatekas from the KwaThema Dojo will be competing in the finals of the All Style Karate Championships on Saturday.
The championships will be held from 9am at Phelang LSEN School, in KwaThema.
The karatekas have been training hard to ensure they win their fights against their opponents from different provinces.
Dojo founder Michael Cindi says his fighters are ready for the championship.
“The township has a history of producing good karatekas,” he says.
Cindi explains that taking part in the championships will also prepare the fighters for the National Karate Tournament, which is expected to take place on August 7.
Nqobile Mphephuka (12) is one of the local karatekas who will compete in the championships.
He is confident that, after putting in so much work during their training sessions, they will be victorious.
“We have been training very hard for more than three months to prepare for this,” he says.
Nqobile appealed for the support of the community.
