Sifiso gets ready for his next fight

KwaThema - Geo Maroon Boxing Club fighter Sifiso Msiza (16) lost his bout against Andile Mqiha on Saturday.

The lightweight amateur division fight took place at the Bert Collins Boxing Club in Springs.

His coach Themba Zulu says Sifiso was doing well before he seemed to give up in the third round.

This was surprising as Sifiso won his previous two fights by knockout.

“I still do not understand what went wrong, but Sifiso lost the energy to keep fighting,” says Zulu.

He is, however, proud of the punches Sifiso landed on Andile during the first two rounds.

“I will put more work into my training sessions to ensure I bring victory to the Geo Maroon Club,” says Sifiso.

Another boxer from the club, Makhosonke Abrahams, left for Durban yesterday (Thursday) to prepare for the big fight against Thulane Mbenge.

A welterweight division boxer, Abrahams’s second professional fight will be held at the Durban International Convention Centre tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm.
