Aerobics to keep fit
KwaThema – Members of the public participated in the aerobics class hosted by the Ekurhuleni department of sports and recreation last Saturday.
The KwaThema hall was full with community members who came for a workout.
The event aimed to raise awareness of aerobics as a sport in KwaThema and to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the young and old of the community.
These aerobic marathons will be held every Saturday from 8am until 11am at different venues around Ekurhuleni until the end of the year.
Vusi Mahlangu, an aerobic instructor, encourages aerobic clubs from around Kwatsaduza and Daveyton to also come and be a part of the challenge.
“We need to educate people in our communities to take fitness seriously, while also making it fun for them,” said Mahlangu.
Participant Nomshado Vilakazi said the aerobic classes are very beneficial, especially for those who cannot afford to go to gym and pay for instructors.
“I have developed a liking of aerobics since I started participating in the Ekurhuleni aerobic marathon classes and hope more people will join,” said Vilakazi.
