A win for Ayoba
KwaThema - Ayoba squeezed in one goal against FC Porto last Sunday, in their SAB League match.
The game was played at the KwaThema Stadium, where Ayoba supporters came to cheer on their team.
The match proved to be a tough one, as both teams were playing for a win which would secure points for them on the log.
Sitting in second position on the log, Ayoba were under pressure to score goals.
After much dribbling and goal formations, Ace Auto Ayoba’s striker, Samuel Makofane, registered the first goal in what proved to be a major clash.
Porto Alberto tried to equalise in the remaining few minutes of the first stanza, but Ayoba’s defence was too tight.
Going into the second half, FC Porto ensured no goals would go past them this time around.
Desperate to extend the lead, the Ayoba players tried to seize every opportunity for another goal — to no avail.
The match ended with a 1-0 win to Ace Auto Ayoba.
Innocent Mayoyo, the technical director, says even though they have won the match, the team need to score more goals to win the league.
“On a points system we are equal to the leading team, but they are ahead of us in terms of goals,” he explains.
“So, the players have to ensure that they get as many goals in the seven matches ahead of us.”
