Soccer teams ready for new league

Springs – Two five-a-side local teams will be part of the SAFA Gauteng Futsal League that will kick off this coming Saturday at the Wits Indoor Centre.

Ekurhuleni United and Springs Y2K will be representing the Ekurhuleni region in the league. The two teams include Kwatsaduza and Springs residents.

The teams use the Springs Indoor Arena to practise and hone their soccer skills.

According to Mana September, team manager of Springs Y2K, they have been working hard for the past two months in preparation for the upcoming league.

He further expresses their excitement at being part of the Futsal League, saying it would be great for one of the teams to win the league.

“The sport isn’t getting enough exposure in our community like other Gauteng regions who have more formalised leagues.

“So in the near future we are planning a league for Ekurhuleni so we get more young people into the sport,” says September.
