Torando take a beating

KwaThema – It was awful experience for the Tornado footballers, when they were thrashed 6-2 by Metro.

The two local sides took on each other on Saturday, at the KwaThema Sports Complex, and it is there that Metro schooled their rivals in a Five-a-Side League match.

Metro players Thabiso Marumo, Sphiwe Mnguni and Madoda Mgezana punched in the first three goals at the beginning of the game.

This shook Tornado and led Sibusiso Manana to tactically sneak in their opening goal.

Metro, however, were determined to keep their lead and bagged another goal, which was scored by Mnguni a few minutes before the whistle blew to end the first stanza.

As the second half kicked off with a score line of 4-1 in favour of Metro, it was still evident this team was out to win, as they remained dominant.

Both sides missed out on some shots at goal, until Mgezana managed to score his second goal.

Tornado tried to catch up, but the Metro players kept defending deeply, making no mistakes at the back line.

Marumo scored Metro’s sixth goal and, as this happened, frustration built up within the Tornado ranks.

At this point, as the game drew to a close, Metro could play a more relaxed game, while their opponents attempted to catch up.

In the final minutes, Mlungisi Mkhwanazi was able to score the second goal for Tornado, leaving final score at 6-2.
