Tsakane – Teams from Ekurhuleni participated in the first annual Mandela Charity Cup hosted by EK FM 103.6 at Mponeng Park over the weekend.

The charity cup was part of the 67 Minutes for charity celebration in honour of the late State President, Nelson Mandela.

Four organisations in Kwatsaduza walked away with prize monies.

Station manager, Mbuso Mpungose, says they supported the charity cup after identifying a number of organisations that were struggling.

“We had R30 000 which was divided among four organisations.

“The big winners of the game were AGCI Football Club who won R10 000 for their charity of choice, Tholakele Centre of Hope in KwaThema.

“The second prize of R8 000 went to The Media Connection for their charity of choice, Geluksdal Old Age Home.

“The third prize worth R7 000 was won by Ek FM for Lethukukhanya Children’s home in Tsakane.

“The fourth and final prize was won by Duduza Primary School who won R5 000,” he says.

Mbuso says they are happy with the turnout and the organisations which participated in the tournament.

“We also appreciate the support of local businesses who contributed towards raising the R30 000 prize money.

“With the help of the businesses we will be able to help needy organisations in the community,” he says.
