Athletics club in Duduza ready for road work

Duduza Athletics Club invites the community to join them to reach their fitness goals this year.

Duduza – Duduza Athletics Club invites the community to join them to reach their fitness goals this year.

“I meet many people while jogging on the road, and when I ask if they know about the club they say ‘no’,” explains Thabo Tsotetsi, the club’s secretary.

Although they have been around for more than thirty years, the club has not been visible to the general public.

“We want to change that. We especially want to attract the youth.”

Tsotetsi says that the club has a walking group for older people or anyone who may not feel they are fit enough to run.

“It is important to take care of our health by being fit and running is one of the best and cheapest ways to do this.

We all need someone to be accountable to on those lazy days,” he adds.

He believes that this is also a way to revive a good neighbouring spirit in the community.

“We need to know each other, and each other’s children. This will make it easier to take care of each other.”

The club will have its first meeting on January 14 at 3pm, opposite Ka Mncondo, Masechaba Section.
