Bucs fans urged to support the team following loss

Man of the Match, Thembinkosi Lorch felt that the team was negatively affected by a red card that was given to Marshal Munetsi in the 42nd minute.

Springs – Orlando Pirates, greater Springs area supporters branch member Sipho Hlophe says Pirates fans should keep supporting the Happy People and not give up on them.

This comes after a gut-wrenching defeat at the weekend during the Telkom Knockout 2018 final in Port Elizabeth. The Bucs lost to Baroka FC on penalties with a score of 3 – 2 following a 2 – 2 in a battle of David and Goliath.

In a post-match interview with Supersport TV, Man of the Match Thembinkosi Lorch felt that the team was negatively affected by a red card that was given to Marshal Munetsi in the 42nd minute.

Pirates supporter Twitter user, @Siyandamda says “Munetsi deserves that red card. That was a silly challenge.”

Hlophe agrees.

“His left leg touched Jemondre Dickens first. It was a fair call,” he explains.

Pirates managed to power through the match, scoring two goals – one during extra time that led to the penalty shootout. Hlophe says it is this fighting spirit that gave him hope for a victory for the Sea Robbers.

“I had hope because the players kept pushing. I did not feel nervous because they kept creating chances.”

To Lorch, who is heartbroken after missing the penalty that led to Bakgaga’s victory, bab’ Sipho says, “It is not his fault because anyone can miss a penalty. It was not his intention to miss it.”

He also encourages the Buccaneers players to keep playing well as the team is on top of the Premier Soccer League log table and is doing well in their CAF Champions League matches.
