“We are therefore encouraging parents to step in and support their children especially to create a balance between education and sporting activities.”

Duduza – Young soccer player, Bonolo Nakedi (13) from Clever Boys Academy was selected to attend the Transnet School of Excellence.

This was during the trials held at Elandsfontein Transnet School of Excellence on January 13.

Clever Boys Academy public relations officer Tshepo Tlagae says the young soccer player went on to complete an assessment exam at the school’s facilities and they were happy to be informed he had excelled.

“He was then given immediate admission which covers his tuition from Grade 8 in 2019 until he completes his matric year.

“He has been an excellent player ever since he joined the team and we are hoping he will continue being disciplined until he completes his matric,” he says.

Clever Boys Academy coach Stabosta Mokoena says he is not surprised by the young boy’s achievement.

“Bonolo joined the team when he was seven years old; he has shown commitment, discipline and his love for the sport on and off the field.

“We have been able to achieve all of this through the support of Bonolo’s mother, Plantina Nakedi.

“We are therefore encouraging parents to step in and support their children especially to create a balance between education and sporting activities,” he says.

Mokoena says the academy was established in 2011 with the aim of finding local talent and of grooming it.

“ Through the years, the academy has produced players such as Khanya ‘Mnyama’ Manzini who has been in Pretoria Tuks High-Performance Centre for the past three years,” he adds.
