Tsakane – Gauteng’s JVW Football Club wins big at the Sasol League National Championships.

Sunday marked the end of an exciting tournament which took place at Tsakane Stadium from December 3 to 8.

The team won R200 000, and have been promoted to the South African Football Association’s (Safa’s) women league.

They defeated Ma-Indies 2-0 on Sunday in what was an epic finale of the 2019 Sasol League National Championship Tournament.

Tournament spokesperson Thomas Sadiki says: “We can proudly say that the tournament was a success, and that everything went according to a plan.

“However, the rain did pose some challenges, and we saw a slight decrease in attendance from supporters.

“But we would like to come back again. Tsakane has been an incredible host and we would like to say thank you.”

He says the two teams were strong opponents, and that anything was possible in the final.

“The two teams were well deserving.

“Both teams displayed brilliant football and we are pleased that they are now a part of the Safa’s women league, and we wish them all best in their future endeavours.”

Sunflower Women’s Football Club, on position 3, walked away with bronze. Ma-Indies took home silver medals as well as the promotion to Safa’s women league.
