Local club wins big at Tuks challenge tournament

Battle Ground Wrestling Club came back with nine gold medals from the TUKS challenge tournament, which took place on Saturday in Pretoria.

Tsakane – Battle Ground Wrestling Club came back with nine gold medals from the TUKS challenge tournament, which took place on Saturday in Pretoria.

The club won six gold medals for their u-8, two gold medals for the u-10 and one gold medal for u-15.

U-8 coach Musa Radebe says: “We are very proud of our wrestlers and we want more from this tournament, and we are now pushing to secure a place in the Eastern Gauteng Games.

Noxolo Malaza (14) and Sinethemba Chosana (10) received wrestlers of the day awards at the tournament.

“I had such a good time, it was fun and I am super proud of myself for having won all my matches.

“This has boasted my confidence for my upcoming match,” says Malaza.

Chosana says he was a bit nervous ahead of the match.

“When my name was called I got so nervous, but thank God I managed to overcome my fears and won the match at the end,” says Chosana.

The club will be participating in the Highveld Hawks League on Friday in Primrose.

Itumeleng Mabena who won a gold medal for the u-8 says her mom’s presence at the tournament made it possible for her to win the gold medal.
