Cycling gains popularity ekasi

More people seem to be showing interest in cycling in Kwa-Thema

Kwatsaduza – Lebohang Ximba, founder of the Mashona Cycling Club, believes cycling is growing in popularity in the township. Established last year, the club seems to be gaining traction with adventurous individuals. Ximba also started the Mashona Hiking Club in 2014.

“I am an adventurer and I love the outdoors. “A lot of people are still not exposed to cycling and one of the challenges faced by those who are interested is the cost of the bicycle itself,” he said. A brand new mountain bike can cost tens of thousands of rands. “We prefer to ride off-road because there is no traffic and it seems to be much safer than sharing the road with vehicles,” said Ximba. The club has between 10 and 20 active members and meets every other weekend.

“I see my vision coming to life; there are a lot of people who want to participate. Because of the costs, I advise them to look for secondhand bikes,” he added. For more information contact Ximba on 060 559 2046.
