Girls battle it out on the field

Seventeen teams from across Kwatsaduza battled it out for the top spot.

Tsakani – Matshidiso Silinda and Prosper Stars recently hosted a netball tournament at their Extension Five grounds.

“I am so happy because playing sport keeps children off the street.
“It keeps them away from getting involved with drugs and hopefully avoiding teenage pregnancy.
“They get to socialise and make new friends,” she said.

The mother of three is the founder of the We Can Do It! community project out of her home to get neighbours’ children off the streets.
The girls who participated were between the ages of six and 19 years old.
She has created sports grounds in the open field behind her house in Ext 12.
“From Monday to Thursday, I help the children with their homework and on Saturdays, we do life skills and sports.”
