Local boxer selected to fight in Russian tournament
Vuyo Mnguni invited to fight in a Russian boxing tournament.
Tsakani – Local boxer, Vuyo Mnguni, is one of the three boxers in the country selected to participate in the XII International Boxing Competition.
The match is organised by the Russian Boxing Federation. The competition is set to run from September 6 to 11 in memory of MSMK Nikolay Pavlyukov and will be held in the Krasnodar region in Russia.
The local boxer is joined by Limpopo’s Tshepo Macebele and Eastern Cape’s Ndlela Liyema.
Mnguni’s coach, Lwazi Xundu, said he is proud of his boxer for being identified as one of the trusted young boxers capable of representing the country in international matches.

“I trust he will represent the club well because he is in good shape and has worked hard over the years.
“My boxers are always ready for any kind of fight, because we train daily as if we have a planned fight,” he added.
Lwazi added his wishes when he opened the boxing academy were for his boxers to participate in the World Olympics by 2021.
“Unfortunately, our plans were disturbed by Covid-19, but we are working hard to attain them,” he explained.
