Local runner qualifies for national championships

Thuso Kgonyane to compete in the national championships.

Langaville– Born2Run Athletic Club’s Thuso Kgonyane has qualified for the Cross-Country National Championships, during the provincial Cross-Country Championships over the weekend.
The provincial championships were held in Kagiso in the West Rand.
The 12-year-old finished in fifth position.
His coach Joseph Mkolo said he is proud of the young runner for making it this far in the competition.

“We started the championships with 15 runners but only one managed to qualify for the provincials.
“They all worked hard to make it but only Kagiso made it this far,” he explained.
“We have finally reached one of our goals to compete in the nationals and our other goal is to bring the gold medal home.
“We are working hard to improve his speed,” he added.
The national championship will be taking place on September 17 in Rustenburg.
