Tsakani – Local boxer, Vuyo Mnguni, lost points during the XII International Boxing Competition held in the Russian Krasnodar region from September 6 to 11.
He was one of the three boxers in South Africa selected to participate in the XII International Boxing Competition. The other two were by Limpopo’s Tshepo Macebele and Eastern Cape’s Ndlela Liyema.
The match was organised by the Russian Boxing Federation in memory of MSMK Nikolay Pavlyukov and held in the Krasnodar region in Russia.
Mnguni’s coach, Lwazi Xundu, said he is proud of Vuyo for making it that far in the competition.

“It was not an easy fight but he fought to the bitter end. Unfortunately, he didn’t win.
“We have learnt a lot from the competition and will implement the new skills into our club,” he explained.
The coach added that his boxers are always ready for any fight because we train daily as if we have a planned fight.
“My wish is to see all my boxers competing in international fights because I trust their abilities.
“Our next stop is the World Olympics and we are ready for that challenge even if they invite us tomorrow,” he added.
The team is urging young people who are interested in pursuing boxing as a sport to join them.
