Local club wins regional tournament
The tournament hosted by the Gauteng Sports Association for the Physically Disabled earned the club its first big win for the year.
Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Disability Club’s cerebral palsy soccer team won the seniors regional cup tournament on Saturday.
The event was hosted by the Gauteng Sports Association for the Physically Disabled at Muriel Brand School in Brakpan.
They came back with medals and a trophy.
Club head coach Aubrey Mathibela said: “This win is special for us as it marks our first trophy win for the year.
“It wasn’t an easy win. Our team showed dedication and preparedness and we are happy about the results,” explained Mathibela.

Eight schools and three senior teams from across Gauteng took part in the cup tournament.
On Saturday, the club will be participating in the second trials for the upcoming national championships at Germiston Stadium.
The trials are hosted again by the Gauteng Sports Association for the Physically Disabled.
Mathibela expressed gratitude to the community and the parents for their continued support, including resident Jabu Khubeka for assisting them with transport fares and food.
