Ace Auto Ayoba beat Springs Home Sweepers in opening game

Nomndayi community festive games kicked off on December 16

Kwa-Thema – Nomndayi Community Festive Games kicked off at Ntokozweni Ground in Kwa-Thema on Friday.

The first game of the tournament was between Ace Auto Ayoba, coached by Tshepo Boee, and Springs Home Sweepers, coached by football legend Joseph Mkhonza.

Ayoba beat Sweepers 5-0.

A disappointed Mkhonza said, “We did not do well at all. In football, it’s not about how you start but how you finish. After today, the boys will learn.

“We were disorganised as a team. However, this is not the end of the tournament.”

The sweepers lost a lot of goal opportunities during the game.

“In a football game, you are supposed to score, if you don’t score you will lose the game,” concluded Mkhonza.

Boee said, “We had a good game and a good start.

“We are not playing a league game but a tournament and we can’t behave as if we don’t want to win the game.

“The officiating was good as well; we need to compliment them when they do well. The boys also gave a good performance. The tournament is also well organised.”

The tournament will take place every day until December 30.
