Springs Home Sweepers FC wins first two matches
Springs Home Sweepers win first two matches.
Kwa-Thema – Springs Home Sweepers FC is on a winning streak and not pulling back the punches.
On Sunday afternoon the team locked horns with Wits University’s female team playing to a 2:0 win at the Kwa-Thema Stadium.
The two goals were scored by Lindiwe Masilela (15) and Samukeliwe Twala (19) who joined the team last year.
This was the team’s second win in a row since the Sasol league kick-started two weeks ago.
The team’s technical coach, Mkhonza Mkhonzana said this is the first time in two years the team won their first two games.
“In the past two years, we used to lose our first games. This frustrated the players and forced us to work under pressure to recover.
“I am proud of the players for bringing their A-game to the matches and implementing the coach’s suggestions.
“We are hoping that the winning streak will not lead to the players relaxing and giving away the matches,” he added.
Mkhonzana added that though they are winning they still see areas of improvement.
“Our players still have to have control of the game and their finishing. These may seem like small challenges but if they are not attended to they might cost us future matches,” he added.
The team is looking for young players to join their U11 and U13 development programmes.
