Battleground wrestlers came out tops in Brakpan

Wrestlers to compete in national championships in October

Tsakani – The Battleground Wrestling Club participated in the Brakpan Wrestling tournament where they did well on Saturday.
The team came back with six gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Coach Musa Radebe said, “I am a proud coach. I am happy with our wrestlers’ achievement.

“They are hungry to compete in the national championships and that is what we are currently working on.”
The national championships will be in October with the venue yet to be confirmed.
The team manager, Mpumelelo Mjoli said the sport is good for the children in the community who want to play a sport which is seen to be unusual.

“Those who would like to join can come to Faranani on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:30 to 17:00,” he said.
Mjoli expressed his happiness and said it shows that the wrestlers play the sport because they love it and not to push time.

On Saturday the wrestlers will be participating in the Warriors Champion USA in Pretoria where they and other teams from the province will go head-to-head with a team from the USA.
