Local sports fan a finalist in the Gauteng Sports Awards

Mphahlele Foundation founder nominated for an award.

Langaville – The Kaizer Chiefs Langaville Branch PRO, Oliver Mphahlele, was nominated for the 2023 Gauteng Sports Fan of the Year award in the Gauteng Sports Awards.

This announcement was made on September 28 at Chief Mogale Hall in Krugersdorp.

Mphahlele is the second resident from Kwatsaduza nominated for these awards. The Kwa-Thema Disability Club was nominated for the 2023 Team of the Year with a disability award.

He said he felt honoured to be nominated as he is one of the loyal fans of Kaizer Chiefs in Ekurhuleni and Gauteng.

Mphahlele has his own foundation called the Mphahlele Foundation, which recently donated 40 school shoes to needy children.

Linking the two, he said, “The hand that gives is the hand that shall receive. I appreciate the nomination.”

Mphahlele is in the same category as the Bambanani Brass Band of the Lions Cricket and Basetsana Mtsweng of Mamelodi Sundowns.

The award ceremony will take place on November 18 at a venue yet to be announced.
