Local runners compete in Junior Series Competition

Team coach Sakkie Kgapola said the runners gave their best during the competition.

Tsakani – Athletes from Langaville Athletics Club participated in the Junior Series competition at the Hillman Stadium in Germiston on Saturday.

The club’s 25 runners, aged six to 13, participated. Kubayi Tisani (13) won the 200m in the first heat. In the finals, he finished third.

In the 100m race, he again won in the first heat and finished sixth in the finals. Banele Ngawala (12) competed in the 1 200m and finished fourth.

Minenhle Kgaphola (11) placed second in the 80m race. Team coach Sakkie Kgapola said the runners gave their best at the competition.

The club will now prepare to compete in the Central Gauteng Athletic competition on November 18 in Germiston.

“We are pleading for donations towards the development of the athletes, transport and catering during competitions,” said Kgapola.
