Young athletes excel at sub-youth champs

Team coach Sakkie Kgapola said he is proud of the athletes.

Kwa-Thema – Athletes from the Langaville Athletic Club competed in the Central Gauteng Athletics Sub-Youth Championships on Saturday.

Runners in the province competed and fought to finish first. Tiyisani Kubayi (13) ran in the heat one of the 100m and finished in first position (12:25).

In his second challenge he competed in the heat one of the 200m where he finished in third position. In the 200m finals he completed the race in the fifth position with a time of 10:07.

Nolwazi Tlhapi (8) finished in the first position in the 60m race. Minenhle Khaphola (11) ran in the 1200m where she finished in 10th position with a finishing time of 3.58:98.

Thoko Ndlovu (11) ran in the 1200m and finished in the 12th position with a finishing time of 3.5:98. Banele Nqcwala (11) finished in fourth position in 3:38:08.

Tiyisani Kubayi (13) qualified for the finals which will be held at Secunda in Mpumalanga on December 2.
Team coach Sakkie Kgapola said he is proud of the athletes.

“This shows that the work we put in during training daily is not a waste,” said Kgapola.
