Tsakani – A recent spectacular game between Clever Boys and Jurry Junior Stars kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

The game started on a high note, with players attempting to score goals from all corners. Jurry Junior Stars coach, Jurry Ngobeni, spoke highly of his players.

He cited that the first half went well; they managed to score a goal.

“My players constantly lost focus, control of the ball and forgot to share the ball. We had a goal, but we did not stick to our goal during the game.

“There are players who did not put in the energy that I expected. I am happy with the team’s performance and we will work hard to achieve good things.

“Lack of resources during practice is a hindrance because we cannot efficiently train each player as needed. Overall, I am happy with how the game concluded,” he said.

The game concluded on penalties, 5-4, a win for Clever Boys. Sandile Mafobokwane, Clever Boys coach, described the first half as difficult.

“At half-time, many people had lost hope, but I still believed we could come back. We conceded an own goal, and looking back at the match, that was our biggest mistake,” he explained.

“If it was not for that own goal, we probably would not have found ourselves in a penalty shootout.

“The wind also favoured the opposition, so we had to stay strong and avoid conceding more goals.”

The coach cited that to win the game, they made a substitution and adjusted their formation. The change worked well and helped the team improve their performance.

“We managed to score the equaliser, although we created many more chances that we could not convert.

“Considering that we were playing against a team competing in the regional league, I am not surprised by the quality of the match.

“However, I did not expect it to be decided by penalties,” he said.

Despite that, the coach said he was proud of the boys and the way they performed.
