Tsakani – A recent semi-final game between Mesh Sports Club and Tsakane Vultures at Muzi Ground in Tsakani Ext 19 kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Both teams defended their position in the game; no team showed signs of backing down. Siyamukela Mabaso, Mesh coach, said the game proved that teamwork is compulsory.

He explained that many of his players lacked confidence and, as a result, ended up defending their position in the game.

“We tried to compete with our opponents, but due to their overpowering abilities, they scored their goal in the first half.

“We did not manage to equalise, but we made sure to maintain shape to conclude the first half,” he said.

“During team talk, we managed to convince the players to maintain focus, tackle the ball efficiently and make the players get fouls in order to gain us free kicks.”

The team returned stronger and more focused. In the second half, Neo Thejane scored the team’s first goal.

“The team talk and motivation revived the spirit of the game. And we ended up winning,” he said.

The game ended in penalties, with a 5-4 scoreline in favour of Mesh. Vultures team coach could not be reached for comment.
