CIA edge Amen Foundation 4-1 on penalties after intense Plus Ground clash

CIA secured a 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Amen Foundation at Plus Ground after an intense encounter that saw both teams fight back and create scoring opportunities.

Tsakani – A recent clash between CIA and Amen Foundation at Plus Ground had fans cheering from both sides of the field as the two teams battled it out in an intense encounter.

CIA coach Phakamani Msweli described the match as intense, saying his side had to play without enough players.

Despite the challenge, Msweli said his players showed determination, although a lack of concentration resulted in mistakes that allowed their opponents to score.

“We managed to play despite not having enough players. The players lacked concentration.

“We used our developing team to play seniors because we believe they are capable and need more attention to advance their skills,” he said.

Msweli said minor mistakes by his team contributed to goals for their opponents, but praised the players for improving their performance in the second half. He said the team returned from the break more focused and determined, eventually finding a way to equalise.

“They came into the game more focused and determined. We equalised with our opponents due to focus and by trying not to overthink the game,” he said.

The match was eventually decided on penalties, with CIA securing a 4-1 victory. Msweli expressed his gratitude for the team’s performance and said he hoped the side would continue building on the result and achieve more wins.
