Rackcity Gang is the new kid on the block

converting from being skhothanes to musicians.

Brothers Kgothatso Ntengu (15) and Kabelo Ntengu (13) together with their friend, Ntokozo Khuzwayo (15), have converted from being Skhothanes to Hip Hop artists.

The trio from Phomolo Section in KwaThema, formed Rackcity Gang and they write and perform their own songs which are a mixture of IsiZulu and English.

Their latest song was produced for the month of love and is titled, My Valentine. They write songs about what they experience on a daily basis.

The brothers are in Grade Nine at Tlakula High School and their friend is in Grade Eight at Springs Secondary School.

Group leader Kabelo, says they were influenced to become Skhothanes ‘by the bad company they used to hang around with, as well as going to watch other Skhothanes competing’.

The boys say it was their parents’ disapproval and being born again that helped them to stop being Skhothanes.

“All we need now is for someone to recognise our talent and sign us under their recording label,” said Kabelo.
