When Jabulani Masemula (29) won a freestyle singing competition on Metro Fm, he decided to invest his winnings on a tangible project.
The Extension Six KwaThema resident used the prize money to finance the production of his first CD, titled Hlalanami (stay with me).
The songs are a mixture of Gospel and rap, with some songs spiritual and soft while others are upbeat songs.
Track number four “Vele” is the crowd favourite and has become synonymous with Jabulani as he is often heard giving public performances in the streets.
The songs also look at social issues affecting many communities and tackle issue of alcohol abuse, transactional relationships and crime.
