Rabbits make a clean sweep

Developing future soccer stars

Botle Buhle Rabbits Development Team impressed at a recent soccer tournament when they won first place in all four divisions.

The team manager Motsamai Moopo, said finals were played on May 1 at Geluksdal Stadium, and the tournament was a collaboration between the Brakpan Local Football Association and Women of the Word.

After surviving the knockout stages the U/11 won their game 2-0, the U/13 team 1-0, U/15 team 7-6 (on sudden death penalties) and U/17 2-0.

The team walked away with medals and new soccer kits.

U/17 captain Isac Malwa said his role was to ensure there was peace and unity in the field during games.

Playing as a defender, Isac said he led by example as his team only conceded one goal during the tournament.

Apart from training three times a week, coach Oupa Morudu attributed the team’s good performance to ‘hard work, proper preparation’.

He closed by saying, “We are always encouraging players to do their best, play every game like it is a cup game, because they don’t know who is watching.”
