DJ Mongezi rocks Kwatsaduza
"Too much pride will kill your ego" is the motto of KwaThema resident Mongezi Mabena, also known as DJ Mongezi.
This household name in Kwatsaduza was born and raised in KwaThema, attended at Cedusizi Primary School then matriculated at Tholulwazi High School in Tsakane.
He furthered his studies to study graphic design at the Ekurhuleni Springs College.
He started his career in 2003 when he received training in Randburg at the Techniques DJ Mix Club.
Currently he is a resident DJ for Chillas and also plays his music for events such as East Leasure and Badichillamo in Kwatsaduza.
His biggest event thus far was playing at Chilly M’s Party at Zambezi Lounge in 2007.
Mongezi’s influence for hip-hop and house music came from groups such as Skwatta Camp and DJ Monde.
He plans to venture into various television productions behind the scenes and own a company branding drinks.
His message to the youth is for them not to associate with bad company.
Mongezi is also a brand ambassador of well known alcoholic beverages in the country.
Some of the challenges he faced in the entertainment industry was competition, colleagues who undermined his talents and not getting paid for some of his gigs.
Mongezi is a proud owner of Mabena Trading and Projects which deals in corporate events in providing entertainment.
He is celebrating his birthday on December 6 at Chillas.
