Film Production in Tsakane

Producer, creator and director Lindo-mar Khumbane is shooting a play called "Welcome to Tsakane".

The play was aired on local radio station Ek Fm in Tsakane.

It first aired on December 1, then continued during weekdays from 11.40am to 12.pm. It was broadcasted in a series of  21 parts.

Khumbane says Filzo’s Productions approached him to adapt the play to television format.

He explains that “Tsakane” is a name for all townships not just the  township Tsakane.

According to Khumbane the project started off as the “Poetry Ink Meets Voice” the previous year before auditions were held for the play.

He says the play has a cast of 10 actors and actresses from Kwatsaduza because he wanted to empower the youth.

Phillemon  Mazibuko, Chairperson of Filzo’s Production, says he heard the play on radio and was interested in adapting it for television because most of the young people in Kwatsaduza were talking about it.

Head of News and Actuality from Ek- Fm Thabang Mashiane  says, as a community radio station, it is their  mandate to make sure that they create a conducive platform and showcase the talents of young people from Kwatsaduza.

Mashiane adds the station encourages more works of art from the community and any ideas to be pitched to their  radio station as they are also required to remain relevant to the community.
