Duduza’s up and coming cartoonist
Duduza - Siphosenkosi Duzane's life is all about cartoons.
The 24-year-old from Duduza fell in love with cartoons when he was six years old.
He says his family was the first to notice his love for cartoons, as he used to ignore his friends and stay indoors, watching cartoons and drawing comic strips.
Siphosenkosi believes his talent is not only about drawing, but also about communicating about different issues happening in and around the country.
Speaking about the challenges that many aspiring cartoonists face, Siphosenkosi says the community often does not take them seriously.
“Some community members say being a cartoonist is a waste of time, and they do not understand how it can be a career,” he says.
He dreams of his work being recognised nationwide.
Cartoonist Mdu Ntuli, who produced the Jesus is a Shangaan cartoon, is one of Siphosenkosi’s favourite artists.
“He is not afraid to share his feelings and opinions with the public through his work,” he says.
Siphosenkosi encouraged parents to support their children’s dreams.
“Nothing beats the support from your family and believing in your talent,” he concludes.
