Local choirs show off their singing talent
The choirs were composed of elders and young people serenading sweet melodies on stage.
KwaThema – Johannesburg Archdiocese Catholic Choirs Music Association (JADCCMA) showed off their singing skills at the annual Catholic Choirs Music Competition at the KwaThema Community Hall last Saturday.
The choirs were composed of elders and young people singing sweet melodies on stage.
The annual competition aims to grow and develop, and one of the flagship programmes is the annual choirs’ eliminations/competitions, where the youth, young adults and adult choirs come together to praise God in unison.

Kagiso Rama Mogaswane, chairperson of JADCCMA, says the Archdiocese had choirs who participated in the competition from the following eight deaneries, Central Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, North, South, Soweto, Vaal and West Rand.
“The choirs competed in the solo sections (bass), sextet, male voices category, female voices category, large section of choirs with 60 voices and singing three songs, standard section of choirs with a maximum of 48 voices and singing three songs, youth section of choirs with a maximum of 30 voices and singing three songs and developmental section, a section of choirs with smaller numbers in the church,” he says.
