Kwaito artist gifts fans new music

The artist was voted Best New Kwaito Artist at the sixth annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards in November.

Tsakani – Award-winning recording artist and music producer Kenneth Mathabela, known to his fans as OGK4Lyf, has released a new extended-play (EP) titled Kwaito Revolution.
The artist was voted Best New Kwaito Artist at the sixth annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards in November.
He said: “I feel honoured, humbled and grateful to be recognised for my craft in the music industry and hope to be an inspiration to up-and-coming local artists.
“I am excited and hope this milestone will open more doors for my career.
“I would also like to thank KB The Suspect for his enormous contribution to the song and to encourage up-and-coming musicians not to give up on their talents.

“Of course, there are challenges we continually come across daily, but that shouldn’t be the basis for throwing in the towel.”
He said he was thankful to everyone who voted for him and those who continue to support his music.
Mathabela added the EP is inspired by his achievement and the social ills affecting the community.
“The EP draws inspiration from the social ills adversely affecting our society.
“The opening track, Uzoguga, addresses financial challenges faced by the youth daily, thus becoming Ben 10s and slay queens to fight poverty.
“On the second track, titled Nomayini, I focused on drug addiction and how it is slowly destroying families and communities at large.
“The song Gaan en Treg tackles the scourge of gender-based violence,” he explained.
The project is available on all digital platforms.
In the middle of 2020, his studio and social media accounts were hacked, which resulted in him losing unreleased music data.
On the new EP, he addresses the major setback he suffered due to the hack.
