GSSTA announces scholar transport fee increase amid rising fuel costs

The Greater Springs Scholar Transport Association says rising fuel prices have forced the organisation to introduce an additional monthly fee per learner.

The Greater Springs Scholar Transport Association (GSSTA) has announced an increase in scholar transport fees, effective from June 1, citing the continued rise in fuel prices.

The association said the recent abnormal increase in petrol prices had significantly raised operating costs, making it difficult to maintain services without adjusting fees.

“Due to the recent abnormal increase in petrol prices, our transport operating costs have risen significantly beyond what we can manage,” said the association’s training officer, Musa Sayilani.

“To continue providing safe, reliable and efficient transport services, an additional fee of R50 per learner will be added to the monthly transport fee.”

GSSTA said it had delayed implementing the increase for as long as possible but could no longer withstand the financial pressure from fuel hikes.

“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support,” concluded Sayilani.
