Tsakani photographer dreams of building one of Africa’s leading brands

Malume Njabz is using photography to tell stories, preserve memories and build a brand that he hopes will one day become one of Africa’s leading photography companies.

Tsakani – Njabulo Ngoveni, popularly known on the streets as Malume Njabz, is a young photographer from Tsakani Ext 9 who is making a name for himself through his passion for photography and storytelling.

Ngoveni developed a love for photography after realising how powerful photographs can be in preserving memories and telling stories without words.

“I became interested in capturing real moments and emotions. I was inspired by the love of storytelling, creativity and seeing how powerful photographs can be in people’s lives,” he explained.

“I also wanted to create something meaningful through art.”

Ngoveni has been working in photography since 2020, building his skills through different shoots, events and creative projects.

He said his biggest motivation has always been his passion for photography and the dream of growing his own brand.

“Even during difficult times, I remind myself why I started. Photography means more to me than just taking photos,” he said.

“It is a way of expressing myself, telling stories, creating memories and connecting with people.”

His journey as a photographer has been filled with learning, growth and challenges.

Ngoveni started small, using the resources he had at the time. Over the years, he gained experience through events, fashion shoots, weddings, conferences and creative collaborations.

One of his proudest moments was receiving opportunities to photograph important events and public figures.

“I manage my work by planning my shoots properly, balancing my time and making sure I use my equipment carefully. I also invest a lot of personal time into editing and improving my work,” he said.

He added that some of the challenges he faces include limited resources, equipment costs, transport, and people not always understanding the amount of work photographers put in behind the scenes.

Ngoveni said his work has received positive feedback, support and overwhelming encouragement from the community.

Many people appreciate his creativity, professionalism and dedication to his craft.

He uses social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to share his work, connect with people, market his services and grow his audience.

“My biggest dream is for my brand to become one of the leading photography service providers in Africa,” he said.

“I also dream of becoming a well-known photographer in South Africa and working with major brands, artists and international events.

“I would love to photograph international events, major fashion shows, music artists, celebrities, sports events and big brands one day.”

Ngoveni said that in the next five years he sees himself owning a bigger photography company, working on larger projects, mentoring young creatives and expanding into videography and media production.

He hopes his work will inspire aspiring photographers to remain focused and work hard.

“I hope my photos inspire people and preserve important memories,” he said.

“My advice to young people is to start with what they have, stay consistent, practise regularly, believe in themselves and never stop learning.”

Ngoveni said his biggest support comes from his family, friends, clients, supporters, partner and everyone who continues to believe in his work.

“What keeps me going is my vision, passion and the belief that hard work and consistency will eventually open bigger opportunities for me in the future,” he concluded.
