Sunday Crew Health and Fitness Organisation supports learners with school shoes and sanitary towels
The Sunday Crew Health and Fitness Organisation donated 30 pairs of school shoes to learners at Thembalikazulu Primary School and 96 packs of sanitary towels to Nkumbulo Secondary School as part of its mission to uplift disadvantaged learners in Kwa-Thema.
Kwa-Thema – Sunday Crew Health and Fitness Organisation donated 30 pairs of school shoes to Thembalikazulu Primary School on May 20.
The purpose of the donation was to give back to the community and make a meaningful difference in Kwa-Thema, recognising that some learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and need school shoes.
The organisation is a registered NPO based in Kwa-Thema and comprises 54 members from various running clubs and community members.
“This initiative aimed to remove the practical barriers that keep children out of class. To protect the health and safety of children walking long distances to school barefoot.

“To ease the burden on families, as many children cannot attend school without proper school uniforms,” said the organisation’s event organiser, Phumla Mabena.
“Our aim was to restore dignity, comfort and confidence among learners, while reinforcing the right to quality education.”
The donations were well received by Joe Tsotetsi, the school principal, together with Noxolo Ngcobo and Thuthukani Xaba.
On the same day, the group further donated 96 packs of sanitary towels to Nkumbulo Secondary School.

The purpose of donating sanitary towels was to support young girls and help ensure that they do not miss school due to a lack of sanitary products.
“This initiative is not just about giving pads. It is about buying back school days, attendance, focus, performance, confidence and future opportunities for girls.
“It is driven by the belief that every girl child deserves to experience her menstrual cycle with dignity, pride and confidence,” she added.
As a community-based NPO, the crew will continue to play an important role in uplifting and supporting learners across Kwa-Thema and surrounding areas.
