Hundreds of sports fans attended the Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation charity games, highlighting the growing impact of sport in the community.
Tsakani – The Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation held a two-day charity games event featuring soccer and netball on May 30 and 31 at Tsakani Stadium, attended by many sports fans.
On Saturday, 11 soccer games were played, and the winners advanced to the quarter-finals, which were played on Sunday.
In the finals, Chillex and Savanna Nights were head-to-head for the grand prize of R13 000.
Chillex scored a goal in the second half, minutes before the final whistle, and was crowned this
year’s champions.

Speaking to African Reporter, the foundation’s founder, Nkosinathi Mbonani, expressed satisfaction with the strong community response to its two-day sports charity games, which brought together teams, supporters, and local stakeholders in a vibrant display of sport and unity.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout, noting that the level of participation reflected growing community trust in the foundation’s work.
“The growth in sponsorship is a sign that brands are beginning to align themselves with our vision and the impact we are making in the community. It gives us confidence that we are moving in the right direction,” he said.
Despite challenges, he expressed gratitude to the community for turning out in large numbers over the two days, saying their support played a major role in the initiative’s success.

“Our goal is to grow this tournament every year and create more opportunities for young people through sport. We have learned valuable lessons and we will use them to make the next event even better,” shared Mbonani.
Mbonani hopes to build on the momentum of this year’s games and continue expanding its impact through sport, with plans to refine the event and make future editions even more organised and engaging for all involved.
