New belt for Alberton Cobras Shotokan Karate Club

Keana Truscoutt from the Alberton Cobras Shotokan Karate Club was one of the five out of seven individuals crowned with the black belt ranking in the recently held SASKA national black belt grading in Pretoria.

The South African Shotokan Karate Academy (SASKA) recently held its national black belt grading at its headquarters in Pretoria.

Head instructors of the Cobras Shotokan Karate dojo in Alberton, sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde (7th Dan) and sensei Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde (6th Dan), were proud of Keana Truscott, a motivated and industrious club member and matric learner at Grace Trinity School for Girls, who passed to her 1st Dan senior black rank.

Only five of the seven applicants who attempted to be graded for their respective black belts passed under the direction of Hanshi Koos Burger (9th Dan) and his Shihan Kai members. This demonstrated how rigorously the high Shotokan Standards were applied to all the grading candidates.

The club operates Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:30 to 18:30 at Ascot Mews Conference & Wedding Venue (19 Heidelberg Road, New Market, Alberton).
