Alberton residents invited to move with purpose to this Women’s Month

Alberton residents are invited to walk, run or ride for a purpose as Pace for Purpose brings the community together to support women who have experienced gender-based violence.

Alberton residents are being encouraged to walk for a meaningful cause this Women’s Month at the Pace for Purpose event on August 30.

The gathering will take place at Café 65 in Randhart, with registration from 06:30 and the event starting at 07:00.

The community initiative aims to bring people together to support women who have experienced gender-based violence by collecting much-needed donations and creating a day centered around compassion, community and support.

The event will offer 5km and 10km routes, with participants able to walk, run or ride. Families are welcome, and Leani Mallalieu from Pace for Purpose also encourage residents to bring their children, friends and even their dogs.

Participants are asked to bring five or more items from the event’s donation wishlist. Suggested items include second-hand handbags, sanitary towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap and facecloths, wet wipes, lip ice, roll-on or spray, body lotion and cotton underwear in medium or large sizes.

The event is being held in partnership with Alberton Suid Kom Tuis and Tutela, with the initiative highlighting the importance of standing together in support of women affected by GBV.

Participants will also have an opportunity to win prizes, including a cut and blow wave from Hair by Me or an express booster facial or gel overlay for hands or feet from La Lee Beauty Studio.

For more information, residents can contact Leani Mallalieu on 082 306 4738.
