JAMILEIGH BARNES: “I’m going to go study to be a beautician. I have always loved making other people look pretty.”
ON the day that matric results were available to be collected, journalists visited high schools in the area to ask matric graduates about their plans for the future. Here’s what a few ambitious youngsters had to say.
KARABO KHETSI: “I am going to study LLB at UJ or Wits. I have been wanting to work in law for the longest time.”
LEANDRÉ DE BEER: “I want to study BComm finance at the University of Johannesburg.”
ROCHELLE PARSONS: “I look forward to studying at the University of Johannesburg to become a teacher.”
FREDERIK WILLEMSE: “I’m going to go do a course in low voltage electricity. I’m pursuing this line of work because a lot of my family are involved in engineering.”
KIRSTEN WARREN: “I’ll be studying hairdressing and makeup special effects art at THASA soon.”
JUANÉ LABUSCHAGNE: “I will either be studying at the University of Johannesburg or Potchefstroom to become a teacher.”
RUBEN ROUX: “I don’t really know what I want to do yet, so I’ll be taking a gap year to figure it all out.”
CAMERYN DIARS: “After school I’m going to do an AutoCad course. After that I will go to work at a drafting company. I have always wanted to work in drafting or architecture.”
COURTNEY ENSLIN: “I am not sure what I want to do yet. I plan to take a gap year and then decide what to do.”
ANTOINETTE BEZUIDENHOUT: “My first option is to study zoology at the University of Potchefstroom, otherwise it’ll be a collective course of environmental sciences, geography and psychology.”
ITHAMELENG MOSISILI: “I am planning to go study at UJ or UP. I’m going to study HR, as a teacher I had inspired me to pursue the career.”
KIRA VOGES: “I am going to study computer science or IT at Wits or UJ. I think it is a good career path to join for the future.”
