THERE are people pretending to be members of the CPF. The community should be warned that no CPF member may stop members of the public and instruct them to leave a vehicle and then search it.
If a member of the public is stopped by a CPF member and feels unsafe, the person should drive straight to the police station. CPF members can only work under the supervision of a SAPS member.
If you feel unsafe or uncertain, please contact the SAPS Brackendowns on 011 617 5612/3, 071 675 6878, 071 675 6880 or 071 675 6882.
If a member of the SAPS stops a vehicle, it must be a marked police vehicle and members must identify themselves by means of an appointment certificate.
