Join Girl Guides in Joburg South and Alberton

Girl Guides has called for new entries into their Guiding Educational programme in the Alberton and Johannesburg South areas.

Girls are encouraged to join to develop skills in emotional, intellectual, moral, social, physical and spiritual development areas.

The Educational Programme develops skills through active cooperation between youth and adults, international experiences; learning by doing; outdoor activities; progressive self-development and service to the community.

Girls from the ages of four and half years to 30 years old can join one of the branches. The branches are Teddies (4½ – 7 years old), Brownies (7 – 10 years old), Guides (10 – 14 years old), Rangers (14 – 18 years old), and Young Leaders (18 – 30 years old).

Some of the activities that the guides participate in are arts and crafts, community action, nature and environment, leadership training, life skills, international understanding, sports and games, and outdoor activities.

Themes include: community, service and advocacy, guiding, leadership, first aid, art and technology, and outdoors and water.
