PATRONS of shops at Brackenhurst Square provided the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) with information about a man who repairs cellphones in front of a liquor store selling dagga to learners and to the public.
At 11am on May 5, the DEU members took action and monitored the suspect for a short period before pouncing. The suspect was found in possession of 20 Ziplock bags of dagga all labelled “cheese” on the packaging.
During his arrest, he told law enforcers he sells a Ziplock bag at R50 each.
The 33-year-old South African suspect was detained at the Brackendowns Police Station and charged with possession and dealing in dagga. He is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
