Two suspects were arrested on May 31 by CPS Security in Charl Cilliers Street in Alberton North.
This after CPS Security’s control room received a call from a member of the public who reported suspicious activity at a local business premise.
“Our reaction officers proceeded to the address and found two men carrying black bags with items inside. The men were searched and several stolen items were found in their possession,” said Tyrone van der Merwe from CPS Security.
On further investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were waiting for the getaway vehicle with more computer screens and other goods from the premises were packed to be picked up and ready to go.
They were handed over to Alberton SAPS who is busy with further investigations.
Van der Merwe urges residents to be extra vigilant especially now with Level 3 of the lockdown.
“We’ve already informed all our business owners as we are expecting a spike in business break-ins. Due to the lockdown, our unemployment percentage increased,” he said.
“Residents should test their alarm systems and make sure that they are working. Be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to your local security company or a police station.”
