Crews rescue man who got trapped in a 10-foot-deep manhole near the Alberton reservoir

NPS transported the patient in a stable condition to a nearby hospital.

A man (32) is in a stable condition after he fell into a 10-foot deep manhole close to the Alberton Reservoir behind Primrose Street in South Crest on August 30 at around 9.55pm.

“We were called out and on arrival, our crew members found the patient at the bottom of the hole. On further assessment we saw that the patient had sustained serious injuries and was in and out of consciousness,” said Chantal Peel from National Paramedical Services (NPS).

Paramedics immediately called for assistance.

The man was safely rescued through the teamwork from NPS, Fox Security’s medical unit, SOG Security and Ekurhuleni’s fire and rescue team. 

NPS transported the patient in a stable condition to a nearby hospital.

“We wish the patient a speedy recovery and thank everyone who assisted us on the scene,” Peel concluded.
