Security guard injured in Katlehong CIT heist, robbers make off with cash

The cash-in-transit security guard was injured after being attacked by armed robbers in Katlehong on Tuesday, December 29. 

It is alleged that explosives were used to bomb cash vehicle and suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
“Fox Tactical Units responded swiftly with SAPS, EMPD, and various security company’s to reports of a cash-in-transit heist in progress,” said Elowayne Gouws, operations manager from Fox Security.”
 
“Upon arrival, units found one cash van bombed and suspects fled the scene.”
 
One firearm belonging to the security guard of the cash-in-transit vehicle was recovered a few meters from the scene.
 
“One security guard was treated by Fox Tactical Medic on the scene and transported by National Paramedics to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” he said.
 
The group of armed suspects managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of cash.
